SAR Class 20 No 2485 was built at the Pretoria workshops using a boiler from a Class 19A, cylinders and trailing truck from a Class 19C, while the driving wheels were from a Class 8.

SAR Class 20 No 2485 was rebuilt as a test bed for the Class 25. The condensing tender was designed and built at Henschel & Sohn and the engine was modified locally.

Waterval-Boven, October 1970. NZASM 46 tonner No 61 'Roos'. Sold out of service by the SAR in 1919 to Simmer Deep Mine, later became ESCOM 'ZASM 4'. In 1971 SAPPI exchanged it for a SAR class 10 No 772. It was restored at Germiston shed in Aug 1971 and was used for several Specials and film shoots before been placed on permanent display at the Outeniqua Railway Museum in 1998. Here she is shown on a special train to mark the 75th Anniversary of the opening of the Pretoria - Lourence Marques railway line.

This 4'-8 1/2" gauge locomotive was built by Fox, Walker & Co works No 352 and was delivered on the 1 January 1878 for work on the east bank of Port Alfred harbour for construction. It was buried during WW1. In 1960 the remains were exhumed and moved by road to Port Elizabeth Museum. In the 1970's she was unceremoniously cut up by a local scrap merchant.
