Port Elizabeth, circa 1900. PE Harbour Board locomotive and goods trucks at north jetty in Port Elizabeth Harbour.
Cape Town. Built for Table Bay Harbour Board No 3 by Flechter, Jennings No 128 of 1874, and used of the 7'-0" gauge on the construction of Table Bay Harbour.
Cape Town. Built for Table Bay Harbour Bay No 2 by Flechter, Jennings No 169 of 1879, and used of the 7'-0" gauge on the construction of Table Bay Harbour.
SAR Class 01 No 0416, built by Kitsons in 1877, later fitted with a saddle tank and used on harbour work.
This 4'-8 1/2" gauge locomotive was built by Fox, Walker & Co works No 352 and was delivered on the 1 January 1878 for work on the east bank of Port Alfred harbour for construction. It was buried during WW1. In 1960 the remains were exhumed and moved by road to Port Elizabeth Museum. In the 1970's she was unceremoniously cut up by a local scrap merchant.

SAR postcard series No 5: Ten CGR 1st Class tender engines were converted to saddle tank locomotives and served mainly with the Port Elizabeth Harbour Board although they tended to be moved to other ports. This engine is SAR No 0416.
