Queenstown, 6 March 1947. SAR Class 15AR locomotives leading the Royal Train. Pilot Train pulled by SAR Class 15A locomotives.
Kroonstad, 10 March 1947. SAR Class 15F 3040 enters Kroonstad station with the Pilot Train. Also visible in the yard are white-boxed car carriers for the Royal Daimlers and the four locomotives which will work the trains on the next section. These are (left to right) SAR Class 15AR No 1568 and No 2098 for the Pilot Train and SAR Class 15AR No 1844 and SAR Class 15A No 1849 for the Royal Train.
